Crab and The Fox was dreamt up while I was on maternity leave, pregnant with my son, Thackeray. I had left decorating his nursery until the last minute, thinking I had plenty of time to source cool, and quirky items for his room; but instead found all the shops on the high street stocked the same boring mix of yellows, pinks and blues. In the end, I managed to source a lot of items from various overseas independents.
The challenge continued after Thackeray was born as I struggled to find clothing which lived up to his little personality. After thinking about it for some time, I decided I wanted to develop a brand which had values reflecting the things I love - weekends together as a family, walking through woodland, rolling English fields, fresh air, rosy cheeks, cheese and pickle sandwiches, picnics, storybooks and adventures. Out of this came Crab and The Fox, the name inspired by Aesop’s fable.
